A Bit About Our Teachers

Leanne Williams

Leanne is the proprietor of Avoca Park Equestrian. In the past 29 years she has achieved her Equestrian Australia, National Coaching Levels 1, 2 & 3 in Dressage. She is also a level 2 Jumping Equitation Judge and is Australia’s only licensed teacher in Philippe Karl’s School of Légèreté.

During her riding career Leanne trained and competed Avoca Black Saint to Grand Prix and in that time represented both Australia and Victoria. Leanne’s currently continuing the development of her riding with the School of Légèreté and studies many aspects in maintaining and improving the horse and rider wellbeing.

Leanne’s rates are charged higher than our normal coaches due to her qualifications. However she loves to know all her clients so it isnt uncommon for her to cover some of our other coach’s lessons occasionally.

Amy Bevans

Amy has over 8 years experience coaching young riders. She has lots of experience teaching groups and loves coaching and guiding riders with a passion for horses. Amy has recently taken on a full time role at Avoca Park and has become an integral part of the team.

Introduced to Avoca Park by Katie Watson (below). She has worked as Katie’s protege for almost a decade, with their sisterlike comraderie- we found ourselved welcoming Amy into our Avoca Park family long before she started working here.

Amy has nearly completed her prerequisite courses in her journey to become an EA Qualified Coach. It wont be long before she is fully qualified.

Frank Thomson

Frank teaches our Term Private lessons, he is a Level 1 EA Coach (General) who has experience coaching from beginners to advanced riders, mainly in the areas of dressage and showing. He has been riding & competing in many disciplines for over 40 years and has spent approximately 30 years coaching.

Frank comes from Queensland and commenced his horse career at Pony Club progressing to Dressage, Eventing and Show Horse. He has had many years of success competing at a high level, but now wishes to put back into what has been a much loved hobby, by encouraging others to constantly strive for improvement and enjoyment.
