Avoca Park Equestrian’s Lineage

Avoca Park was built on the brilliance of one horse, both in temperament and ability. That horse was Avoca Black Saint. His willingness to please, allowed him to move through the dressage grades and become something he was not meant to be – a Grand Prix dressage horse.

Black Saint was purchased in 1991 as a 5yo initially to show jump but this was not successful due to his spookiness. We then tried him at eventing where we had a little more success but he was too slow. Finally, in 1995, we decided that dressage was to bee his career. By 2001 he was graded Grand Prix, having represented both Victoria at State and National level and Australia in the World Dressage Challenge.

Black Saint is by a Thoroughbred stallion called Delamore Echo and out of a Clydesdale mare by the name Clompy. In 2002 we were fortunate enough to also purchase Black Saint’s full sister Matilda, allowing us to keep this amazing blood line going.

In 1994 we decided to breed again to Delamore Echo, so we leased a lovely Clydesdale cross mare named Gravanne Rose. She, at this stage, had a 3 day old colt foal at foot. This foal was later to become Avoca Cardinal and so our breeding program had begun, beginning Avoca Park Clydesdale Performance Horses’ Stud.

Grevanne Rose went off to stud to breed with Delamore Echo and in 1996 has a brown filly that was named Avoca Eclipse. Avoca Eclipse has since competed at Prix st George and Intermediate I and is now a beloved school horse of Avoca Park.

Once we purchased Avoca Matilda in 2002, our thoughts were on breeding our second stallion. After breeding Matilda with Avoca Cardinal, we had a filly in 2004, named Avoca Daphne and then in 2005 she produced a colt, whom we have named Avoca Flaunt It. To date he has produced both fillies and colts which, we are very excited to announce, they all have the qualities we aspire to in our performance horses.

In September 2012 Avoca Flaunt It commenced his competition career and during the first twelve months he moved his way through Preliminary and Novice with many scores up to and including 73%. We are now looking forward to furthering his dressage career over the next few years.

Avoca Flaunt It’s first foal out of Avoca Impulse commenced her competition career with exceptional results, highlighting her exceptional movement and temperament.

Avoca Solomon was Avoca Impulse’s first foal by Avoca Cardinal, born in 2002 he was one of our earlier foals. During his time competing he has been consistently making his way through the grades and has since made the successful jump into FEI classes. Now begins the very exciting time of developing Solomon and his skills to progress onto the achievement of Grand Prix. There are without a doubt wonderful times ahead for Avoca Solomon.

Avoca Rocket Man is also by Avoca Cardinal and out of Avoca Impulse and, although a few years younger than Avoca Solomon, he is just as talented. Avoca Rocket Man has competed Elementary with great ease and is too an exciting prospect for us as he continues to make his way through the grades to Grand Prix.
